Chasing Your Dreams and Making An Impact: Mindful Q&A with Avni Parekh

Self-help author, entrepreneur and beauty icon, Avni Parekh is making a big difference in her field with her self-help book “Be the Bigger Person” and her new line of mindful clothing called “BTBP.” Avni is an inspiring person who has become a role model quickly because of the positive messages she sends through her brand. She is also inspiring others to follow her principles of positivity and self-improvement. In this interview, we’ll dive further into Avni’s story and learn more about the challenges, feelings and thoughts behind the figure she’s become.

Q1: On your personal website, you mentioned that it took you a whole weekend to outline the plan of action and an entire 30 days to write your debut self-help book “Be The Bigger Person”. What else don’t people know about the writing process and about the story of launching this book?

Avni Parekh: So much goes into writing a book. There’s also a lot that gets left unsaid. Many don’t know that the idea of writing my debut book really came to me as an epiphany.

Also, what people may not realize about the writing and editing process is that there were numerous drafts of the “Be The Bigger Person” manuscript. In fact, I have a file cabinet where I store all of those physical copies.

Q2: What inspires you? Tell us more about the story behind writing “Be The Bigger Person” and the factors that determined you to become an author.

I’m inspired by innovation and the possibility that immense change can occur simply because of one idea. That’s what being the bigger person is about — changing how we treat one another, especially during times of conflict.

Avni Parekh: In regards to what led me to become an author, well, from elementary school to college, I always excelled in writing; and becoming an author was a childhood goal of mine. A goal, I am proud to say, I achieved.

Q3: Do you consider yourself successful? What about BTBP, is your brand gaining the recognition and success you were aspiring for? How would you define your personal success and how do you measure the success of the brand you’ve created?

Avni Parekh: I think each person has their own vision for success based on their ideals. As for my goals, aspirations, and mission in life, I strive for the best, live a disciplined life, and always aim to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. I’ve accomplished a lot in my 20-year career and have enjoyed many successes that were a direct result of hard work and determination.

The central message of my brand — be the bigger person (aka. BTBP) — is definitely gaining popularity, especially on social media. However, there’s more work to be done to bring this life principle to the forefront of everyone’s mind.

Q4: What are the core values guiding you both in your career and in your personal life?

Avni Parekh: In my career and personal life, I am guided by 3 core values; these core values are also imbued in my brand, Be The Bigger Person.

It’s best to take the high road in life.

When angry, don’t retaliate or react violently.

Always aim to better yourself with each passing day.

Q5: A loved one is often a primary source of strength, determination, or confidence for successful people. Can you tell us about someone who’s helped you stay strong or had some significant impact on the evolution of your life and career, as well as what lessons you’ve learned from them?

Avni Parekh: My mother has impacted my life and career the most. I have learned many life lessons from her; more importantly, I learned to be extremely resilient and highly driven.

Q6: What can you tell us about the role of self-care and mindfulness in your daily routine, as well as its impact on your work and wellbeing?

Avni Parekh: Mindfulness and self-care are important factors in my daily life. So much so, that my professional background and creative endeavors are centered around health and wellness. For me, it’s important to live and breathe what I believe in. By implementing self-care and mindfulness into my routine, I am able to maintain a positive state of being.

Q7: You wrote that being a mentor and a role model is a position you truly value and that you never take for granted. What responsibilities come with being a mentor, what are the new challenges you are facing from this position and how rewarding is it to inspire others?

Avni Parekh: Being a mentor is a heavy responsibility in itself. I’ve mentored many young women in business as well as entrepreneurship. And, my work as a life coach, enables me to help my clients advance in their life goals.

Currently, I have an influx of clients and it’s challenging for me to find enough time in the day. However, it is extremely rewarding, and emotionally fulfilling, to know that I can inspire others to be the best version of themselves and fulfill their dreams.

These thoughts end our interview with Avni Parekh. We hope you found this Q&A as interesting, inspiring and empowering as we did! Thank you, Avni, for taking part in this interview!
