Fighting Rages in Ukraine on Orthodox Christmas Despite Putin’s Call for Truce

The General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said Russian troops had launched attacks along the front line in the eastern Donetsk region after President Vladimir Putin called for a 36-hour pause in hostilities that was to last through Saturday.
